Installation report of 100Ah POLAR LiFePO4 batteries in the Pössl Summit Prime 540 Camper, which was provided to us by our customer.

How can AGM batteries be replaced with modern LiFePO4 batteries in the Pössl Camper?
A customer shares his personal experience with the installation of our 100Ah POLAR Supervolt LiFePO4 battery – including helpful installation tips and crucial information for the conversion.

Reason for the conversion
The standard AGM reached its limits during longer off-grid tours:
heating load, mobile devices and the occasional home office setup demand more energy than the AGM can safely supply. LiFePO4 offers clear advantages here: higher usable capacity, less weight and a longer service life.
Preparation: Installing the LiFePO4 battery in the Pössl
- Fully charge 100Ah POLAR lithium battery → BMS initialized, pair app.
- Have a helper ready to lift out the front passenger seat later.
- Tools & trays for screws and cladding.
The following tools are required:
- Phillips screwdriver
- Slotted screwdriver
- 40 mm Torx
- Ratchet with 13 mm socket
- Pliers wrench
Note:
With the introduction of our new battery series at the beginning of October 2025, the POLAR series models no longer have RJ45 interfaces to external devices (e.g. Victron, Truma iNet, etc.), as these are not required by all users.
Due to the elimination of these interfaces, we can no longer offer the POLAR series can now be offered at a lower price.
The PRO series however, still has the corresponding interfaces.

Removing the AGM battery
- Ignition off, put the key aside
- Disconnect shore power
- Switch off the E-box fuse
- Disconnect seat belt tensioner cable
- Remove cladding
- Loosen seat & swivel bracket (screws and stop screw)
- Disconnect the AGM connections (pull the fuse first) and secure the cable ends
- Unhook steel brackets or holders
- Highlight AGM
Installing the lithium battery
- Insert battery
- Screw on pole terminals, ensure correct polarity and fit
- Fix the handle with tape if necessary
- Dip switches on the E-T-A E-Box: 1 and 2 set to “on”
Installation of solar charge controller
As the existing ALDEN charge controller does not work with LiFePO4, it will be replaced by another one.
Also pay attention to reverse polarity here.
Function test of the Supervolt 100Ah LiFePO4 battery
- Insert fuses, activate vehicle electrical system → Check voltage
- Import solar charge
- Read power and charge status in the app
- Test charge controller via app
Safety instructions
- Risk of short circuit – electric arc in the event of accidental pole contact, i.e. remove jewelry/metal bracelets.
- Avoid reverse polarity – + to -, damage possible.
- Cable protection – protect against sharp edges, vibration and chafing.
- Torque & locking – screws according to manufacturer, use
locking lacquer if necessary.
Conclusion on converting from AGM to lithium
Converting from AGM to LiFePO4 is not rocket science with a little manual skill and can be done quickly in a quiet afternoon. It always helps to read installation reports like this one beforehand and take a look at your vehicle. If the tools are ready and you have a helper at your side, you can quickly carry out a worthwhile update for your camper.
