Guest article: Installation report 2x 180 Ah Supervolt lithium batteries + 2000 W inverter in the Dethleffs Just Camp T 7052 EB

Our customers Yvonne and Tobias have sent us an experience report on the installation of 2x 180 Ah Polar LiFePO4 batteries and our 2000 W inverter in their Dethleffs Just Camo T 7052 EB. In this article, they explain the details of the installation, the advantages of the new power supply and what to look out for when converting.

Who are we?

We are Yvonne, Tobias and our little daughter Alisia. We bought our first motorhome in 2019 and have already traveled half of Europe so far. Unfortunately, we had to sell our motorhome in 2021 because we bought a house. Since then, we have really missed traveling and being free.

We were full of joy in December 2024 when we ordered a new motorhome. We could hardly wait until we could finally travel with it again. It went very quickly and we were able to pick up our new companion at the end of February 2025. We are now the proud owners of a Dethleffs Just Camp T 7052 EB.

In 2021, we founded a small company “Foils-in-Allgäu“, which specializes in camping stickers and replacement foils for motorhomes. With the new motorhome, a new sales idea was born – a mobile plotting service! This allows us to create stickers anywhere on the road and sell them from the motorhome. This enables every camper who meets us to customize their motorhome quickly on site. BUT, we ran into a problem, we urgently need a competent and high quality brand for our battery concept so that we can run our machines on the road without a shore power connection.

So we did some research online and compared many suppliers of batteries and
inverters. It was clear to us that it would be a concept from the brand: Supervolt!

Why Supervolt?

In general, we are friends of regionality, and in our company we also work with many
companies and wholesalers in the area. As we like to travel to Breisach and the surrounding area very often ourselves (weekend trip), the brand was already appealing to us.

So we took a closer look at the technology and quickly realized that
the following points were more positive for us than the competition:

Integrated heater that supports charging down to -30 degrees
App and 3x RJ45 ports for direct connection
– Connection option for an ON/OFF switch
Screw housing for easy maintenance in an emergency
Integrated BMS – even updateable
– Weight – 1 x 180Ah only 15.5 KG
Warranty – 5 years
2000 watt inverter incl. mains priority circuit and remote control

These points were important to us and prompted us to order the following battery concept from
Supervolt:
2 x 180 Ah Supervolt Polar battery – total 360 Ah
1 x 2000 Watt inverter

Now we were once again full of anticipation for the items we had ordered. Two days later, the post office had already delivered our ordered items to
. Thank you for such a fast delivery!

Note:
With the introduction of our new battery series at the beginning of October 2025, the POLAR series models no longer have RJ45 interfaces to external devices (e.g. Victron, Truma iNet, etc.), as these are not required by all users.
Due to the elimination of these interfaces, we can no longer offer the POLAR series can now be offered at a lower price.
The PRO series however, still has the corresponding interfaces.

The ACTUAL state

Our motorhome had the batteries under the passenger seat (like almost every other motorhome). However, this was conveniently converted for us under a side seat in the seating area, so we didn’t have to do so much conversion work. The motorhome was delivered to us with 2 x 95 Ah AGM batteries.

The conversion

The two batteries were quickly removed and immediately put on the scales to experience a direct comparison of the weights. What can I say… it’s amazing! We are thrilled. We removed both batteries weighing 52 kg and installed the new ones with inverter and cable weighing 36.9 kg. That means a saving of 15 kgand 229 Ah more power.

Now the work begins...

We had clear ideas for the concept, e.g. that the remote control for the inverter had to be added to the original control units, and it was also important for us to have a socket with a 230V connection in the seating area and in the kitchen unit. So easy to say, but so difficult to do.

We had to dismantle many elements in the motorhome and also drill several holes to get to the desired places. (Drilling holes in a new motorhome is always a bit of a pain…)

But everything went faster than expected and the cable was already laid in the control panel area.
I carefully cut out the hole for the remote control with a multitool, as there were a lot of cables running behind it that I didn’t want to damage. I was able to route the black cable perfectly into an existing
cable duct.

Now I have roughly connected and tested everything. After a successful test run, it was time to call it a day. The next goal is to install the inverter properly
and lay the sockets.

Now it was clear to us that there would be three sockets that would run on the inverter.

1x in the kitchen for the coffee machine, 1x in the seating area for the laptop and 1x in the corridor so that we can flexibly connect our mobile plotter
. To do this, I installed a junction box in the seat opposite. This meant laying the cable completely from left to right.

With a lot of patience and “fiddly work”, this worked quite well under the plinth area to the cab. I then fitted the junction box under the seat bench.

Conveniently, a socket was already installed in the bench seat, so I was able to use this directly. I drilled and connected 2 new ones for the kitchen unit.

Then it was time to reassemble everything and clean it properly so that the wife was happy again
😉

But also remember to convert all computers, if available, to lithium. We had to change this for the solar controller, battery computer and charge booster accordingly.

Fortunately, our seat still has a flap on the side, where we have connected an extension cable if we ever need 230V outside the motorhome. We are now looking forward to the first trips and test phases with our battery concept.

First field report

At the end of April, we had an appointment where we were able to offer our mobile plotting service for the first time. We were really excited to see if our concept was right or if we had forgotten or miscalculated something. We had the inverter running for around 6 hours the whole time.
Our plotter and laptop were always connected (we also had coffee in between). The consumption was just 35 Ah in bad weather. The solar system on the roof with 280 watts couldn’t give us much energy here.

Our second trip was in the direction of the home of batteries, we took advantage of the extended May 1st weekend and drove to Breisach. We didn’t need any electricity here, the sun was shining and quickly recharged our batteries. In normal use with a coffee machine, hairdryer and charging devices, the concept has already convinced us.

But we will tell you more about a cold experiment. Our plan is to visit
Santa Claus personally in his village in Rovaniemi, Finland, on December 24, 2025. It’s usually -20 degrees here.
