Is wild camping allowed in Poland?
Unfortunately, the answer to the question of whether wild camping is allowed in Poland is no. Officially, camping in undesignated areas in the middle of nature is prohibited. If you do it without permission anyway, you can be fined up to 125 euros. Wild camping in Poland can be particularly dicey if you pitch your tent in a national park without a permit. The same applies to coastal areas, where regular checks are carried out.

Are there any special features of wild camping in Poland?
Wild camping in Poland, as in many other countries, is permitted if you ask a landowner, forest owner or forestry company for permission and get it. The Polish people are very warm and hospitable. As a rule, this should not be a problem. There are also some signposted bivouac sites where you can’t go wild camping in Poland, but you can at least bivouac, i.e. spend the night without a tent.
Can you go wild camping with a camper in Poland?
Like wild camping in Poland, free standing for campers, motorhomes and the like is not permitted. Here too, the police are very strict in nature reserves, on the coast and at tourist destinations. Occasionally, they may turn a blind eye, especially in rural areas, but you should not rely on this. Also important: Never drive on a forest road unless the relevant traffic signs allow you to do so.

Are there alternatives to wild camping in Poland?
Let’s finally get to the surprise when it comes to wild camping in Poland. Since May 2021, wild camping in Poland with a tent is officially permitted in 425 forest areas. Great, isn’t it? The important thing is that a group of ten or more people must register with the forest administration and camp in one place for a maximum of two nights in a row. You can even make campfires at selected locations. As always, when wild camping in Poland, respect nature and take your garbage with you.
