Supervolt 150Ah installation report in VW T6

At home outdoors”, that’s my motto. I now spend a good half of the year living in my VW T6, discovering beautiful places and following my travels on my Instagram channel @bulli.loves.nature.

As I’m lucky enough to be able to work from anywhere, my van is also my mobile workplace for a few months of the year. Working, looking out into the countryside, exploring the area after work or taking a quick dip in the lake during my lunch break – priceless!
The topic of electricity is therefore extremely important to me, because the laptop draws a lot of power, especially in video conferences or when editing photos or videos. Then there is the consumption of the fridge, the parking heater in winter, lights and all the other little things that need electricity. So far, I’ve been traveling with a 120 Ah AGM battery.
I never had any problems in summer, as I have a permanently installed 180 watt solar panel on the roof. But especially in the fall and winter, I often reached my limits with the previous setup and a few months ago, when I had to leave the car running for half an hour at 8 a . m. to make an early video conference, it was finally clear: something had to happen. After a bit of research and gathering testimonials from the camper community, I came across Supervolt and then bought the LiFePO4 150 Ah lithium battery from Supervolt ordered.

Note

With the introduction of our new battery series at the beginning of October 2025, the SE series LiFePO4 batteries no longer have RJ45 interfaces to external devices (e.g. Victron, Truma iNet, etc.), as these are not required by all users.
By eliminating these interfaces, we can now offer the LiFePO4 batteries of the SE series can now be offered at a lower price.
The PRO series however, still has the corresponding interfaces.

My van is a VW T6 from 2016 with a DIY conversion. The body battery is located under the driver’s seat and is installed horizontally due to the limited space. After the seat was removed, the visual difference became immediately apparent – the new battery is a whole lot smaller, despite having more power. And significantly lighter! Nevertheless, it still fitted best horizontally, which is the case with the Supervolt LiFeP04 batteries is fortunately not an issue. Unfortunately, some of the previous owner’s tinkering also came to light, but we were able to rectify this immediately…

Fits perfectly under the seat

Thanks to our DIN housings, all Supervolt batteries fit perfectly under the seat of VW Bullis.

Rewired everything again, fixed to be on the safe side so that the Supervolt battery does not go on the move, done. The charge booster still had to be set to the new characteristic curve, which was super quick and uncomplicated, and the battery computer was set to the specifications of the new battery and that was it. All in all, the conversion took less than two hours.

I could see directly in the Supervolt app what the charge level was and how much power was going in and out. A huge upgrade for me to be able to better estimate in future how long I can still stand free and how much power is coming in via the solar panel.

For testing, the inverter and made a cup of tea with the 650W kettle. With the start of spring and the higher temperatures, I’ll be going on longer road trips again and I’m already looking forward to hopefully never having power problems again. 😊
